The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many restaurants and hotels to push their boundaries and think outside the box to reach their clientele safely while staying afloat. As part of this process, Cinnamon Grand and Cinnamon Lakeside launched a common website that allows their customers to order online for delivery or take-away. The process is user-friendly and hassle-free, and I must say their service is top-notch.
As part of the last order we placed, we decided to check out Cinnamon Grand’s Seafood Family Feast (between LKR 9,500 – LKR 18,600 for between 2 – 4 pax), prepared by Lagoon. This comprised of:
Starter
. Prawn spring rolls with garlic sauce
Soup
. Seafood chowder
Mains
. Vegetable fried rice
. Pad-Thai noodles
. Modha steamed with lime and chilli
. Hot butter cuttlefish
. Wok fried vegetables
Dessert
. Blackberry cheesecake

There honestly was nothing to fault with the meal. The prawn spring rolls were dapper – a crunchy prawn with some seasoned veggies in a tasty shell that was still delicious despite losing some of its crispiness on the journey to Ja-ela.
The highlights, for me, were the pad-Thai and the steamed modha. Both were mouth-wateringly good! The noodle had a great savoury-sweet flavour and wasn’t too heavy or oily. A substantial amount of seafood had been tossed into it, too. The modha was steamed to perfection and the lime and chilli sauce that came with it pretty much made my tastebuds pop.
The hot butter cuttlefish and wok fried veggies were a nice addition to the meal, with the veggies sort of bringing everything together. The rice, too, was nicely prepared and substantial in quantity.
The blackberry cheesecake sat a bit ordinary next to the rest of the splendid meal which we all thoroughly enjoyed, but worked alright at the end of the day.
Great taste – check. Value for money – check. Happy belly – check.
Can’t wait to order this one again!
* Ordering via Flavours also allows you to contribute towards Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ ‘Meals that Heal’ campaign through which they donate a meal to members of the community for every order placed. It could be an amount as small as LKR 100 that you donate – but small things make a big difference. Kudos to Cinnamon for this initiative. *
