We’d heard mixed reviews about this particular buffet in Colombo. However, since our last experience at Peshawri was quite satisfying, we thought we’d give the Indian Ocean Pavilion buffet a shot, too.
Let me begin by saying that the Indian Ocean Pavilion spread is rather attractive- particularly the layout of the starters and desserts. Equally impressive was the variety of starters that were on offer, so much so that we went for two rounds of starters. There were a few salads, pickles and dips that are uncommon to most buffets in the city. I particularly enjoyed the seaweed and tuna salad, and the black fungus salad.

The mains were arranged by cuisine, with Sri Lankan, Indian, Far Eastern, Western, South American stations designated around the area. The dishes that we tried were generally tasty, with a decent balance of flavour in most. We particularly enjoyed the panipuri, of which I haven’t got any pictures, as I popped them in as soon as they were prepared, not giving it a second thought!

The dessert corner was a sight to behold, with most of the desserts strategically arranged to give the appearance of greater variety and colour. While appearance might have outdone taste, to some extent, Indian Ocean Pavilion did offer an interesting assortment to choose from.

All-in-all, TEL felt positively about this dining experience, and it was good to come across another decent buffet dining option in the city.
