Our transit in Munich was a short one, but – recommended by our wonderful Swiss friends – Der Pschorr made our visit to the town center worth the while with a scrumptious, authentically Bavarian lunch. The bustling rustic restaurant, whose staff buzz around in traditional Bavarian attire, serve up a menu that is truly representative of the Bavarian state of which Munich is the capital.
The Crispy Half Pork Knuckle is a must-try if ever you visit. The meaty knuckle came with a mildly salty crackling skin on it that was done to perfection. This was accompanied by a Bavarian potato dumpling and a thin sauce that elevated the culinary experience of both the pork and the potato. What made the dish truly top-notch for me, though, was the bacon sauerkraut, which was par excellence. It was perfectly balanced, mouth-wateringly good and light. An excellent meal, overall.

I washed my pork knuckle down with a glass of rhubarb Spritzer which I found to be quite refreshing in its simplicity. There was barely any sweetness to it, which was great, and the overall flavour was very subtle, allowing the food to shine and take center-stage.
